BRAND YOURSELF- STAND OUT IN THE CROWD

Look at the picture above, what do you see? What readily comes to your mind? What stands out for you?

I got the picture from Steve Harvey’s Instagram page and it struck a chord in my mind, do you remember that song we used to listen to in Sesame Street...” some of these things belong together, some of these things are kind of the same, but one of these things does not belong here, now it’s time to play that game”... I think that’s how the song goes...Lol. Okay so what doesn’t belong in this picture in your mind’s eye?

When you look at the picture, first thing that comes to your mind is that thing that is different, that thing that stands out...

Tips on how to stand out in the crowd

1.            Decide what standing out in the crowd means for you; is it about just looking different from everyone else or going to the extra mile to prove that you are one of a kind in skills, talent or personality? standing out from the crowd might be about trying to live and be your best or trying to have that unique style you've created for yourself without copying or borrowing anyone's ideas.

2.            Think for yourself; standing out in the crowd can’t happen if you’re thinking with the crowd. Be prepared to voice and live your differences, concerns and preferences.

3.            Don’t be swayed by the crowd; the pace of the crowd can be relentless and the speed by which things can change   can be breathtaking eg fashion fad. Hardly anyone in the bandwagon stops to think if this change is necessary for pressing needs. If you really want to stand out, you’ll need to stop and ask yourself these questions “is there a need for this?” or “will this enhance my life?”. Not because every supposed “big chic” has a pair of louboutin shoes, you too must get one.

4.            Never be afraid of being different; people actually admire who stands out from the crowd. Be yourself and if people don’t like your creative style, they are probably just jealous.

5.            Have good manners/attitude; this is one thing a lot of people don’t know, funny thing is you actually spend nothing  to get this but it earns you a lot. Politeness  opens doors and keeps them open. These things get  noticed and noted you know.

6.            Dress stylishly and wear what suits you; your dress sense speaks in its own way, and a well-tailored outfit that fits you perfectly is bound to have people notice you. Choose good outfits, get yourself fitted in good clothes and buy only a few of the best rather than a lot of the cheapest.

It is important to stand out in the crowd even though you all are wearing the same thing. When you try to blend in by all means possible, you might end up disappearing. That way the real you is not seen, you don’t even exist to a lot.
